The high school is a free school with several specializations, such as hunting, cooking and forestry.
The majority of the students come from far away, and therefore live in boarding schools, but these buildings are in poor condition as they were built already in the 1950s.
- The alternative was to demolish, which would have cost more, says Johan Barrdahl who is the CEO of the high school.
First, the new boarding school will be built in stages, and then a combined gymnasium and auditorium.
Clear year 2023
The renovation and rebuilding will be financed through a loan from the main owner Region Kronoberg who enters as a creditor.
But before construction begins, the regional council must give its approval in the autumn.
If everything goes as planned, the shovel will be put in the ground after the turn of the year.
- All signals from politicians are very positive, says Johan Barrdahl.
However, students currently attending upper secondary school will not be able to experience the new, fresh premises.
At the turn of the year 2022/2023, the boarding school is expected to be ready.
- It's time, the premises are quite old and worn, says Erik Sandberg who is in his second year on the forest line.
