- We often talk about the problem when it happens, but when the problem arises, it has already cost a lot and caused many to end up in vulnerability - our job is to reach young people in time before the problems arise, says Ghassan Boström al Ahmad.

He is a field secretary in Angered and works to build relationships with children and young people to prevent, for example, mental illness and crime.

He is positive that the government now wants to legislate that all municipalities must work to prevent crime, through a law that can enter into force in the summer of 2023.

Municipalities can apply for money

To cover the municipalities' costs, the government now wants to invest SEK 109 million during the first year and then SEK 219 million per year, through a pot where the municipalities can apply for money.

That message was given during the government's budget press conference on Wednesday.

The proposal also includes a pot of SEK 52 million per full year, where the municipalities can apply for money for various initiatives.

Ghassan Boström al Ahmad and his colleague Victor Oseghale believe that it is now important that the focus is on prevention in the broadest sense and to enter at an early stage.
