The British Independent newspaper revealed that Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid was living in the capital, Kabul, in front of the eyes of US forces and Afghan authorities, while his enemies believed that he was a false figure.

The newspaper's report stated that Zabihullah Mujahid worked for many years in secret, and only his voice was known over the phone, before he suddenly appeared in front of the media at the first press conference held by the Taliban movement after its control of Kabul and its seizure of power in Afghanistan.

Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed - in statements he made to the Pakistani newspaper, The Express Tribune - that the Afghan authorities and the US forces believed that he was a non-existent figure on the ground, explaining that he had evaded attempts to arrest him on several occasions.

The Taliban spokesman said that he was able to move freely in Afghanistan despite the intense pursuit by US forces, and added that he was touring Afghanistan in front of everyone's eyes, and was able to reach the front lines of Taliban operations, and he was receiving information about the battles first-hand, which baffled his opponents.

Mujahid confirmed - in his statements to the Pakistani newspaper - that he has lived in Afghanistan during the past two decades and has never thought of leaving it, and that US forces were paying citizens to obtain information about his place of residence, and they made several raids in an attempt to find him.

vagueness

After Mujahid's press conference last August, the BBC's Yalda Hakim confirmed that she was shocked to see the man, whose identity had remained a mystery for many years, and considered it difficult to reconcile his previous statements with his statements. current calls for peace.

The Independent report prepared by journalist Shweta Sharma quoted Pakistani journalist Sharif Hassan, who was among the journalists who attended the first press conference of the Taliban after it seized power, saying, "It is a picture of Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban spokesman, who during the past decade has been more active than "All the official spokespersons in Ashraf Ghani's government. I've spoken to him and communicated with him a lot via text messages, but this is the first time I've seen his face."

Shweta Sharma says that many questions are asked about the personality of Zabihullah Mujahid, and whether he is a single person or a group of people.

She says that some journalists have doubts that the young man who led the press conference last month seems too young to be the person who has been speaking to the media in secret for the past years.

Zabihullah Mujahid had said - in the statements he made to the Pakistani newspaper - that he was born in 1978 in the Gardez area of Paquita province, and began "jihad" against foreign forces when he was 16 years old.

He added that he participated in combat operations in several regions of the country, and was imprisoned for 6 months, as he clarified that this was his real name, before his commanders granted him the title "Mujahid", which was associated with his name and became attached to it.
