SEHA trains nursing cadres to care for kidney patients

SEHA Kidney Care, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), launched its first kidney care training program, targeting Emirati and Arab nursing cadres at SEHA, based on international best practices widely followed in the framework of the association’s competencies. The American College of Nephrology Nurses, with the participation of six nurses working in SEHA.

The training program provides an opportunity for the participating nurses to develop their skills and enrich their knowledge and understanding of kidney care methods and methodologies, as the opportunities available to specialize in kidney health care, before the launch of the program, were limited to local nursing cadres.

The Executive Director of Kidney Care Health, Professor Stephen Holt, said that the program gives healthcare professionals opportunities to learn and develop, to enable them to contribute to the development of healthcare services, as nursing cadres with specialized experience or training in caring for kidney patients are rare at the global level.

He added that the program adopts a focused and comprehensive approach to provide participants with the necessary support to develop their expertise in nephrology, and after the completion of the program, the participating nurses will possess the various skills and competencies that allow them to provide specialized health care for kidney patients at a world-class level.

Acting Executive Director of Nursing, Dr. Mary Kim James, said, “SEHA Kidney Care’s nursing cadres form the backbone of the SEHA network, and through our work to enhance their access to local education resources and training that meet international standards, we will be able to enhance Our ability to care for kidney patients.”

It is noteworthy that the new kidney care training program is part of the comprehensive medical education programs that SEHA provides to its workforce. Earlier this year, SEHA launched a partnership with Khalifa University in the Clinical Research Certificate Program (KU-CRC). for health employees.
