Until now, Uppsala's local ordinance has not said anything about possessing and consuming alcohol in bathing areas.

But according to a proposal that is currently being referred to the police, among others, alcohol will be banned at the bathing areas.

- Bathing places should not be a place where you drink alcohol, but a place for swimming and play and families with children to hang out, says Erik Pelling (S).

Accidents with tragic outcome

The background to the proposal is several fatal accidents at bathing sites in Uppsala during the summer.

The accidents caused politicians to act.

- In a very tragic way, we got to see how closely drownings and alcohol are connected, says Erik Pelling.

Björklingebon: "May buy it"

The bath in Björklinge is one of about twenty bathing places that would be covered by the ban.

A ban that is welcomed by Björklinge residents if it becomes a reality.

- Children do as the adults do - not as they say.

That's why you have to buy it, says Tomas Nillsson to SVT's reporter.
