This was reported by the press service of the Northern Fleet of Russia.

"Practical actions ... were played out at military training grounds in the Kandalaksha and Pechenga districts of the Murmansk region, as well as on the Sredny and Rybachy peninsulas," Interfax reports.

As part of the exercises, the Arctic expeditionary group carried out an offensive operation to defeat the mock enemy in the Kola Arctic.

More than 3 thousand servicemen and about 500 pieces of weapons and military equipment were simultaneously involved in the exercises, including the "Arctic" T-80BVM tanks, multiple launch rocket systems, self-propelled artillery, tracked armored personnel carriers and all-terrain vehicles.

"Air support for the troops was provided by the Su-24 bombers of a separate mixed air regiment of the Air Force and Air Defense Association of the Northern Fleet," the Northern Fleet said.

Earlier, special forces of the Northern Fleet held exercises in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
