At the training grounds, where the joint strategic exercise (SSU) of the troops of the Russian Federation and Belarus "West-2021" is taking place, several samples of the latest technology were used for the first time.

This is stated in the messages of the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

The debutants in the maneuvers were the unmanned aerial vehicles "Walker", "Swallow", robotic systems (RTK) "Uran-9", "Nerekhta", "Platform-M", BMP B-19 with the combat module "Epoch".

Recall that the SSU is held from September 10 to September 16 at nine training grounds in Russia, five sites in Belarus and in the Baltic Sea.

In total, up to 200 thousand people and 760 units of military equipment were involved in the exercises.

Also, contingents from Armenia, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia participate in the implementation of tasks.

Fire support

On September 13, the main stage of the exercise started at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

The actions of the military personnel of Russia and other states were watched by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

During the events, the head of state was shown the capabilities of a subdivision of combat robots and BMP B-19 with the Epoch combat module.

“An armored group as part of a BMP B-19 platoon was put into battle with the main forces of the simulated enemy moving out to the front line of defense of the military contingent units of the armed forces of Belarus, India, Mongolia and the Russian Federation in order to increase the activity and stability of defense in the conduct of hostilities for holding important borders, positions and areas ", - explained in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation the task that the crew of the new BMP performed.

The newest infantry fighting vehicle is an armored tracked platform that carries a very solid arsenal - a 57-mm automatic cannon, Kornet anti-tank installations, a Bulat complex with small-sized missiles to destroy firing points and lightly armored vehicles.

"The peculiarity of the information and control system of weapons of the combat module" Epoch "is the presence of an automated search system, recognition of enemy targets, their tracking, preparation and issuance of proposals to the crew of the combat vehicle for the simultaneous or alternate use of two channels of fire destruction," - says the website of the military department.

Also in Mulin, the latest robots for reconnaissance and fire support were used for the first time.

One of them is the Uran-9 heavy RTK, which was previously tested in the Syrian operation.

This autonomous vehicle is designed to destroy a wide range of targets - from manpower to tanks.

Armament "Uran-9" includes a 30-mm automatic cannon 2A72, a 7.62-mm modernized Kalashnikov machine gun (PKTM), guided missiles "Attack" and an improved RPO PDM-A "Shmel-M" rocket thrower.

According to the RF Ministry of Defense, such a RTK is capable of providing substantial fire support to the combined arms and reconnaissance units of the RF Armed Forces.

The robot is made using means that reduce its radar signature.

Uranus-9's length is 5.6 m, width - 2.5 m, height - 3.1 m, maximum travel speed - not less than 35 km / h, radio control range - not less than 4 km.

At a training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region, several Uranov-9s fired at infantry and armored vehicles of a simulated enemy at a distance of 3,000 to 5,000 meters, interacting with servicemen and another RTK, Nerekhta.

This unmanned vehicle weighing about 1 ton is included in the Kungas family.

It was developed by the engineers of the Plant.

V.A.

Degtyareva together with the Foundation for Advanced Study (FPI).

The RTK can be equipped with a variety of weapons - a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun, grenade launchers and anti-tank missile launchers.

The target detection distance of "Nerekhta" is 5 km, the range of destruction is about 2 km, the maximum speed of movement is 32 km / h.

The robot is manufactured in three modifications: in the shock version, as an artillery reconnaissance complex and a vehicle.

According to the FPI, "Nerekhta" will be used for military operations, including in urban conditions, and will become part of the outfit of the soldier of the future.

Also, the robot should in the future receive a voice and gesture control system.

During the SSA, Russian servicemen used the platform-M autonomous complex.

The robot made its debut when working out tasks by motorized riflemen and paratroopers at one of the land ranges of the Baltic Fleet.

RTK struck at the positions of illegal armed groups, firing at stationary and mobile targets.

After the elimination of the grouping of the conditional enemy, the "Platform-M" robots were used for reconnaissance and making passages in the minefields, which, according to the legend, the exercises were installed by the militants.

As specified in the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, "Platform-M" is mounted on a tracked chassis, equipped with four grenade launchers and a Kalashnikov machine gun.

From open data it follows that the mass of the robot does not exceed 800 kg, the volume of the payload is 300 kg.

The RTK operates on two electric motors, which provide operation for 6-10 hours.

The length of the complex is 1.6 m, the width is 1.2 m, the height is 1.2 m, the range is 1.5 km, but this figure increases significantly when controlled by a UAV.

The developer - JSC "NITI" Progress "- offers the military" Platform-M "in modifications of a strike robot, scout, sapper, cargo delivery and propaganda vehicle.

In a single network

The Zapad-2021 exercise was not without the use of the latest UAVs.

So, on September 13 in Mulino, the unmanned aerial vehicles "Walker" ("Orion") and "Swallow" were used as part of a reconnaissance firing complex.

According to the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry, the drones provided "cover for the maneuvering actions of defending units using the latest 120-mm guided mines" Gran "with a laser homing head."

Orion is a long-duration medium-altitude strike drone developed by the Kronstadt company.

This is the first Russian drone of the class of medium-altitude long-flight drones or MALE (Medium Altitude Long Endurance).

An enterprise for the mass production of this drone is being built in Dubna near Moscow.

The equipment installed on the Orion allows the flight to be carried out in a fully automatic mode.

The UAV's cruising speed is 200 km / h, the payload mass is 200 kg, and the flight duration is over 24 hours.

In February, in a commentary to the Russia 1 TV channel, the deputy head of unmanned aviation of the main command of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergei Tyugay, said that Orion had been successfully tested in the Syrian operation.

The video recording of the combat work, which was shown by the TV channel, shows how in the night conditions the UAV strikes several terrorist objects, using a thermal imager and a night vision camera for aiming.

Not much is known about "Lastochka", which made its debut at the SSU.

The device was developed by the specialists of JSC "KB" Luch "(Tula).

The drone belongs to the class of short-range complexes.

Drone weight - 4 kg, range - 25 km, flight time - 1.5 hours.

From the information of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, it follows that "Lastochka" is a complex of weapons, which include attack drones.

As stated on the website of the military department, “during an episode of tactical actions (at the Zapad-2021 exercise. -

RT

), shock UAVs (UAVs. -

RT

) from the Lastochka complex inflicted a fire defeat on openly deployed manpower and destroyed an armored target a conventional enemy with fragmentation and cumulative ammunition ”.

According to experts interviewed by RT, another memorable event of the SSU was the use of the remote mining engineering system (ISDM) "Agriculture".

In a conventional theater of military operations, this unique complex first interacted with the machines of the TOS-1A "Solntsepёk" heavy self-propelled flame-thrower self-propelled gun.

Fighting vehicles fired at the minefield, which was created by ISDM on the way of the columns of the imaginary enemy.

As a result, a "high-temperature fire field and excessive pressure in the lesion focus" were formed.

According to the legend of the teachings, such a tactical technique allowed inflicting maximum damage on the enemy and stopping his advance.

"Agriculture" was created by JSC "Scientific and Production Association" SPLAV "them.

A.N.

Ganicheva (part of the Tekhmash concern).

As the developer of the system told RT at the Army-2021 forum, the ISDM is capable of "sowing" mines up to 15 hectares of territory with a range of 15 km.

The complex is equipped with 50 guides that fire programmable anti-tank or anti-personnel projectiles.

The ammunition belongs to a new generation and meets all the requirements of international conventions.

As noted by the military expert, retired colonel Viktor Litovkin, at the Zapad-2021 exercise, great emphasis was placed on the use of autonomous and remote systems.

“All these new types of weapons are designed to reduce the risk to the lives of military personnel.

A person controls equipment at a safe distance, avoiding the likelihood of getting hit by a retaliatory or counter strike by the enemy, ”Litovkin explained.

At the same time, as the expert emphasized, unmanned vehicles and other newest products are not used autonomously from other troops during the SSA and are included in the general command and control system of the groupings.

Military expert Yuri Knutov shares a similar view on the specifics of the West-2021 exercise.

According to him, the drawings of practical episodes of the maneuvers taking place these days indicate that the Russian army has achieved serious success in integrating various types of military equipment into a "single network."

“The exercise shows significant progress not only in the development of RTK, UAV and means of remote destruction.

All of these state-of-the-art reconnaissance and strike systems are integrated into our armed forces.

Of course, there is still a lot of work in this area, but already now this newest technique allows you to get a complete picture of the battle and strike at the enemy, "Knutov summed up.
