Israeli sources reported that Bahrain's ambassador to Tel Aviv Khaled Al-Jalahma presented his credentials to President Isaac Herzog today, to be the first ambassador of the Kingdom in Tel Aviv since the establishment of relations between the two sides about a year ago.

This was accompanied by Manama's announcement of facilities that would enable Israelis wishing to visit Bahrain to obtain entry visas to its lands.

Last week, Gulf Air announced the launch of a direct route between Tel Aviv and Manama, starting at the end of this month, with two flights per week.

At the beginning of this September, Ambassador Al-Jalahma arrived to officially assume his duties, and on the second of the same month he met with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, and on the same day, Israel announced the appointment of its first ambassador to Manama after the normalization of relations between the two parties last year 2020.

Bahrain announced - at the end of last March - the appointment of Al-Jalahma as ambassador to Israel, and the King issued a decree establishing a diplomatic mission for his country in Tel Aviv.

On May 29, Al Jalahma took the legal oath before King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

Al Jalahma has been Director of the Foreign Operations Department since 2017, and served as the Kingdom's deputy ambassador to the United States (2009-2013).

He became the fourth Arab ambassador in Tel Aviv after the ambassadors of Egypt, Jordan and the UAE.

In September 2020, Israel and Bahrain signed an agreement to normalize relations between them.

The normalization agreements signed by Israel with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan angered the Palestinians, describing them as a "betrayal" and a breach of the Arab consensus that made resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict a condition for peace with Israel.
