Donald Trump said that due to the actions of the Biden administration, he may have to take part in the struggle for the presidency of the United States in 2024.

The Republican said this in an interview with Fox News.

“I don't think we will have a choice.

It's humiliating.

Look at the events in Afghanistan, at the senseless, completely senseless loss of life, ”Trump said.

The ex-president added that the parents of the soldiers killed in Kabul "want to talk" with him, and "not with Biden," and that "they are confused."

"The point is that we really will not have a choice," Trump emphasized.

The billionaire called the current US President Joe Biden "incompetent", and the actions of his administration - exacerbating the split in American society.

“They tell everyone that they want to achieve unity, inclusiveness.

Only inclusiveness is alien to them.

They tend to divide people and sow discord, "- said Trump.

Earlier, Trump also hinted at his possible participation in the presidential election.

This happened during his visit to one of the fire stations in Manhattan on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks.

One of the police officers attending the meeting asked Trump if he would run in the 2024 presidential election or try to run for another post - for example, the mayor of New York, of which Trump is a native.

At first, the Republican said that it was a "difficult question" for him, but then he developed his idea and explained why he was avoiding a direct answer.

“In general, for me this is a simple question.

I know what I'm going to do, but from the point of view of, let's face it, ridiculous laws on campaign finance, I still can't talk about it, ”Donald Trump explained.

At the same time, the ex-president again gave a lengthy answer to the question of whether he would try to return to the White House in 2024.

“I think you'll be happy,” Fox News quoted him as saying.

Principal solution

Trump has repeatedly hinted at the possibility of participating in the presidential elections in 2024, but has not yet officially announced his plans.

In July, Trump gained media attention again, claiming that he had already made a final decision on the matter.

He announced this during a trip to the border with Mexico in the state of Texas during a meeting with residents of the region, which was broadcast by Fox News.

Channel host Sean Hannity asked the audience if they want Trump to run in the 2024 election.

To which the audience responded with a storm of applause and cheers.

After that, the journalist asked the ex-president if he had made up his mind.

To which he replied in monosyllables "Yes".

After a while, Hannity again turned to Trump with a question about his political future and noted that the Republican, it seems, is ready to "return to this fight."

“Not that I want it.

The country needs it!

We must take care of this country.

I don't feel like it myself - is it fun?

Constantly, always fight ... ”- Trump replied.

American media note that Donald Trump has made similar statements about his possible participation several times.

He first mentioned this in December 2020 - after his election defeat - at a White House reception for members of the Republican National Committee.

It is worth noting that Trump never admitted defeat in the 2020 presidential election.

After the approval of the electoral college vote on January 6, he announced the transfer of power to the incoming administration, but did not declare himself a loser.

In February, Trump admitted he could re-run for the presidency during a speech at the US Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Florida.

In March, in an interview with Fox News, he said that he would make the final decision after the midterm elections to the US Congress, which will be held in November 2022.

Trump's numerous lengthy statements about possible participation in the elections are largely due to his desire to continue to be the object of media attention, American political scientist Mikhail Sinelnikov-Orishak said in an interview with RT.

“Considering that Trump is a showman, we will hear a lot of such statements from him before the next presidential elections in the United States,” the expert noted.

However, the elections themselves are still too far away, and Trump will not make an unambiguous statement so as not to give opponents all the cards in their hands.

“Memories of the previous Trump presidency have not cooled yet.

Opponents can perfectly remind him and the voters of his defeat in the 2020 elections.

To say "I will move out" now is to incur ridicule.

The wave of negativity against Trump from his opponents has not subsided, and he does not want to tease them, ”the political scientist explained.

At the same time, such hints each time stir up intrigue and interest in his person among voters and the media.

“If you declare your nomination accurately and completely, you can no longer stir up interest.

This is an absolutely rational strategy - to constantly create informational reasons about yourself, ”emphasized Mikhail Sinelnikov-Orishak.

Afghan factor

Republicans and Donald Trump have been actively criticizing President Joe Biden, his team and American military leaders over the events in Afghanistan over the past few weeks.

The hasty withdrawal of the American contingent from this country led to the activation of the radical Taliban * movement, which launched an offensive against the positions of government forces, cities and administrative centers.

Despite the statements of Biden and his team that the pro-American government has all the necessary forces and means to retain power, the Taliban entered Kabul without a fight and announced the establishment of control over the entire country.

This was followed by the chaotic evacuation of citizens of the United States and other countries from the Kabul airport, during which IS * militants carried out a terrorist attack on its territory.

As a result, at least 170 Afghans and 13 American troops were killed.

Trump called what was happening a shame and called on Biden to resign.

At the same time, in response to comments that it was he who concluded the deal with the Taliban on the withdrawal of US troops, the Republican said that if the Biden administration had followed the plan left by him, then everything would have gone without such consequences.

Against the backdrop of events in Afghanistan, the approval rating of Biden's activities among citizens has dropped sharply.

According to a joint opinion poll by radio station NPR, PBS and Marist, for the month, as of September 2, it fell by six percentage points - to 43%.

NPR notes that 41% of Americans are extremely negative about Biden's activities as president of the United States.

Leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Konstantin Blokhin, in a conversation with RT, noted that Trump is following the political conjuncture that has developed in the United States.

“His statements fit well into the general context of increasing criticism of Biden and decreasing his rating, because there are many dissatisfied with the American withdrawal from Afghanistan,” the expert explained.

These statements will bring certain popularity to the ex-president, but time will tell whether it will persist by 2024, added Konstantin Blokhin.

“Now Trump is feeling energetic, but he is at risk due to his age, and no one knows how he will come by that time.

At the moment, his criticism is justified in terms of gaining popularity.

Now Trump will also criticize Biden on every occasion, ”said the political scientist.

Biden has made the biggest mistake of his presidency so far, but Trump will not be able to easily take the White House seat back on just one criticism of the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, Blokhin said.

“If Trump goes to the polls, he will face the same elite that rejects him.

This elite has experience of interacting with him, understands that it is extremely difficult to change him.

Therefore, he will face what we call the "deep state."

On his side there will be Trumpists who will not disappear anywhere, they will be even more radical.

Even though Trump is gone, Trumpism remains.

By 2024, the failed withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan may not be so scary, but Trump will remind voters of it and will try to play this card, ”the expert concluded.
