With Crown Prince Fredrik at the helm, the Danish wind farm on Kriegers Flak was inaugurated last week.

The giant park is Scandinavia's largest offshore wind farm with the capacity to supply 600,000 Danish homes with electricity annually.

Due to Kriegers Flak, it is located just over 30 km south of Trelleborg outside the Swedish territorial border, but in the economic zone between Sweden, Denmark and Germany.

Plans for a Swedish equivalent are awaiting a decision

On the Swedish side of Kriegers Flak, the energy company Vattenfall plans to build 40 wind turbines that are significantly higher than the Danish ones, 280 meters.

It provides greater power transmission, so despite fewer poles than on the Danish side, about 500,000 Swedish homes will be able to be supplied with electricity.

The County Administrative Board of Skåne has approved the construction in relation to Natura 2000, but the Ministry of the Environment has not yet made a decision.

Vattenfall's plan is for the Swedish wind farm to be completed in 2028.
