A man killed his wife before killing himself in Saint-Pierre-lès-Nemours, a town in Seine-et-Marne located 80 km south of Paris, we learned on Monday from the Melun prosecutor's office and police sources.

The bodies of the 65-year-old woman and her 64-year-old husband were found by police in their room at around 10:40 p.m. Saturday night to Sunday.

They were both shot in the head.

"The girl had warned the police after receiving messages from her father telling him that he was going to end his life," added the same source.

"He killed her and then killed himself, there was no complaint" for domestic violence before the fact, said the prosecutor's office in Melun, referring to "internal problems with the couple".

According to another police source, which describes a long-suffering couple, the woman had wanted to leave her husband for some time.

The investigation was entrusted to the Fontainebleau police station.
