Contagion under heavy braking

In the week that has just ended, the trend towards a slowdown in the spread of Covid-19 in Sicily, already detected last week, strengthens: the new positives, the hospitalized, (ordinary and in intensive care) and new admissions to intensive care have decreased. After nine weeks, the number of current positives also decreased again. The Statistical Office of the Municipality of Palermo notes this. In the week just ended, the new positives in Sicily were 6,252, 27.3% less than the previous week, when a decrease of 7.6% had already been recorded. The ratio between positive swabs and swabs performed also decreased, from 6.6% to 4.8%. The number of current positives is 26190, 2272 fewer than the previous week.

There are 25298 people in home isolation, 2199 fewer than the previous week. 4) The hospitalized are 892, of which 106 in intensive care. Compared to the previous week, they decreased by 73 units (ICU patients decreased by 14 units). There were 40 new admissions to intensive care (42% less than 69 the previous week). The number of healed (255,944) increased by 8392 compared to the previous week.

The percentage of healed out of the total positive is 88.7% (87.6% last Sunday). The number of deaths recorded in the week was 132 (against 131 in the previous week). However, due to some recounting, the provisional number of deaths attributable to the week just ended is equal to 82. Overall, the dead people are 6,577, and the lethality rate (deaths / total positive) is equal to 2.3% (as last week). The total hospitalized represent 3.4% of the current positives (the hospitalized in intensive care 0.4%).
