Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urged the Afghan government to communicate with the international community, stressing that the world is waiting for actions, not words, during a meeting with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian in Doha.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman said, "In our meeting yesterday with the government in Afghanistan, we encouraged them to engage and communicate with the international community. We have clarified from the beginning Qatar's role as a mediator, which has always been a neutral role... and we told them that isolation will not be the answer and that recognition is not a priority now." .

In a joint press conference with his French counterpart, the Qatari foreign minister added that his country is convinced that insisting on recognizing the new government will not help any party, and that the most important thing now is to abide by what it said and combine that with positive actions and steps on their part.

"They confirmed that they want to engage internationally and reopen embassies, knowing that this will take time," Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman continued.

The Qatari foreign minister called for concerted international efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Afghanistan, stressing that his country will cooperate with all United Nations agencies to support humanitarian efforts in Afghanistan.

For his part, the French Foreign Minister thanked the State of Qatar for what he called its exceptional efforts in evacuating French and Afghan nationals from Kabul.

Le Drian stressed the continuation of cooperation and coordination between Paris and Doha to complete the evacuation of French nationals and their families, as well as "to protect Afghans who are threatened because of the values they hold," noting that France is interested in security and stability in the region.

The Qatari Foreign Minister had met in Kabul yesterday with Afghan Prime Minister Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund.

Sources told Al Jazeera that, at the conclusion of the first official visit by a Qatari and Arab official, the Qatari foreign minister urged the Afghan parties to engage in national reconciliation, and called on the government to guarantee freedom of passage and travel for all and a commitment to combating terrorism.

The sources added that the talks with the Afghan leaders included Kabul airport, and ways to move forward in the country.

The Qatari Foreign Minister also met with Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation, and former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, and the two sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan.
