A replacement doctor was tried on September 8 by the Montargis Criminal Court (Loiret), for the death of a patient.

The 47-year-old man died after receiving an overdose of morphine in June 2016, reports

This father went to the practitioner's office for persistent chest pain.

The doctor then decided to inject him with morphine, twice, and five minutes apart.

During the first injection, the patient had received six times the normal dose, then twenty-six times during the second injection.

The body of the 40-year-old was later discovered lifeless in a vehicle. 

The defendant on the run

The replacement doctor, heard by the gendarmes then by an examining magistrate the following days, had justified his acts by a different formation in France and in Belgium, his country of origin.

He then fled and has never been found since.

According to our colleagues, he could be in the Philippines.

The court requested two years in prison against the health professional.

The lawyer for the two children of the victim also claimed 15,000 euros in damages for each of his clients.

The verdict will be rendered on September 27.
