The decision was made at this week's City Council, following a proposal from the Feminist Initiative (Fi)

The decision also includes that the municipality must consistently use gender-neutral words in its documents instead of "she" or "he" where gender does not matter, writes Strömstads tidning.

- When I was completely new to the municipal board, it was a man who gave a long speech about how the word "official" is completely neutral and that it is silly to use the word "official".

But it sounds neutral because men are the norm in society, says municipal board member Marielle Alvdal (Fi) to P4 West.

Alvdal mentions the Riksdag as a good example.

There, "Member of Parliament" is now called "Member of Parliament".

- Inclusive municipalities will realize that many employees are women and realize that they want to use the inclusive concept, she says.

The changes in the municipality's documents will be introduced in the coming year, before the end of the term of office.
