“During the jubilee summit, the main results of the SCO's activities over 20 years, the state and prospects of multilateral cooperation within the Organization will be discussed.

The heads of state will conduct a thorough exchange of views on topical issues of regional and international cooperation, consider joint steps within the SCO to overcome the consequences of the crisis caused by the pandemic of the new coronavirus infection, ”reads a statement posted on the agency’s website.

It is noted that "following the results of the Dushanbe SCO summit, the heads of the SCO member states are expected to make decisions on launching the procedure for admitting the Islamic Republic of Iran as a full member state of the SCO and granting the status of a dialogue partner to the Arab Republic of Egypt, the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."

“The heads of the member states will also take decisions on a new SCO Secretary General and Director of the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS.

At the end of the meeting, for the first time in the history of the SCO, the Organization's Anthem will sound, which was agreed upon at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

As a result of the historic SCO summit, the Dushanbe Declaration of the 20th anniversary of the SCO and about thirty decisions are expected to be adopted, ”the ministry added.

Earlier, Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali spoke about the possibility of the country's membership in the SCO.
