The alarm came at 2pm on Sunday afternoon.

Rescue services, police and an ambulance went to an address in Skurup municipality to help a man who had landslides over him in connection with an excavation work with an excavator.

- We from the rescue service helped with the excavation work.

The case has now been handed over to the police, says Mattias Sköld, internal commander at the rescue service Syd.

The man who got the landslides over was taken to hospital but his life could not be saved.

Relatives are notified.

- A person injured his leg when he tried to help the person who had gotten the landslides over him, says Mattias Sköld.

Forensic scientists are investigating the cordoned-off accident site to find out what happened.

The police have contacted the Swedish Work Environment Authority, which will investigate the incident.

A report will be written, but at present the crime classification has not been determined.
