An individual was arrested last night in Rimini (northern Italy) after stabbing five people, including
a child who is in very serious condition
, who he attacked when he was asked to show the ticket of the bus line in which he was traveling, they report today local media.
The detainee is a
26-year-old Somali
, who was traveling without a ticket and when two inspectors asked him to display it, he pounced on them and wounded them, one in the neck and the other in the shoulder, while shouting meaningless phrases.
Later, the driver opened the door of the bus and escaped to the promenade, where he threatened several motorists and injured three other people, including the 6-year-old boy, also in the neck and who arrived in very serious condition at the Hospital de Sick of Rimini.
He was finally arrested, after a long flight, accused of attempted murder, injury and robbery, according to the same sources.
After the first investigations, no elements have appeared that link the detainee, with no antecedents, with terrorist or extremist environments, and now an attempt is being made to find out the attacker's motive.
The arrested man, who lived in a Red Cross facility, had manifested a violent and aggressive personality, according to some witnesses, and it is not ruled out that he was
under the influence of drugs
when the events occurred.
He had been in Italy for a few months and had applied for refugee status.
