Driven by desperation, some people present inside the Towers decide to throw themselves into the void. These are perhaps the most shocking scenes of that day.
Not just the Twin Towers. During the collapse of the North Tower, debris hit World Trade Center 7, an adjacent structure: this skyscraper also collapsed around 5.10pm, without causing casualties.
The frantic and incessant work of the first responders and the desperation of the wounded. It is still not clear what is happening, no one is talking about a terrorist attack yet.
In the days following the collapse, the missing are still sought, at the same time the damage is counted.
