Former EU Commissioner Günther Oettinger was introduced to his new office as President of the private University of Economics and Law (EBS) at a ceremony on Saturday. According to the announcement, the 67-year-old said that his aim was to promote responsible leaders at EBS and to give students the right tools to shine in the European economy. He would like to do his part to keep EBS on the road to success on its way to becoming a European champion. The new rector of the university is Professor Martin Böhm from IE University Madrid.

The two were elected in May and, together with the current managing director Dorothée Hofer, form the future management trio of the business university.

Oettinger was the German EU Commissioner until November 2019, most recently responsible for budget and personnel.

From 2005 to 2010 the CDU politician was Prime Minister in Baden-Württemberg.

EBS, which was founded in 1971, claims to be one of the leading private business universities in Germany.

Around 2,200 students and doctoral candidates teach and research at the locations in Wiesbaden and Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau.

A good five years ago EBS was taken over by the education and health company SRH.
