Jorge Sampaoli's surprise!

The Senegalese Bamba Dieng, unlikely holder with OM against Monaco, Saturday night during the 5th day of L1, was revealed by scoring the two goals of his team's victory.

Without Dimitri Payet, Marseille did not have all its offensive arguments for this trip to the Principality.

But Sampaoli has decided to start the young Senegalese (21) for the first time this season.

And the striker, who arrived in Marseille in August 2020 from Diambars FC, a Senegalese partner club, was the man of the match.

Scorer twice in two different registers (37th and 60th), he also had fun with his direct opponents, Chrislain Matsima and Axel Disasi, throughout the first period.

After trying his luck but missing the target (11th), he quickly showed his capacity for pure speed.

After releasing Matsima on his left side, he launched a first attempt on the post of Alexander Nübel, beaten (13th).

At the 28th, rebelote!

But this faith, Dieng aimed ... the other post of Nübel, still beaten (28th).

Put to death, the Monegasque defense broke on the third arrow of the powerful attacker.

Disasi is caught in foul of marking.

He was never able to make up for the lost meter against Dieng who, starting from his camp, offered his first goal in L1 (1-0, 37th).

- Two goals, two registers -

In the second half, he went down physically.

But Amine Harit served him perfectly in the box just after the Senegalese missed an easy pass.

Rejuvenated and in a magnificent center-forward gesture, he went around Disasi for a victorious pivot strike at the near post (2-0, 60 ').

Exhausted, crippled with cramps, but having fulfilled his role beyond expectations, he then gave way to the cheers of many Olympian supporters.

We expected Pau Lopez, the Spanish international goalkeeper who had the pressure of the Marseille public from his warm-up, after having relegated "El Fenomeno", Steve Mandanda, on the bench for this meeting.

But Lopez, on loan from Roma, quietly lived his first in L1.

Monaco did not even frame a strike in the first period.

Only William Saliba, on an insecure back pass (21st), forced him to deviate for a corner.

We also expected the duel of the neo-internationals in the middle between the Marseillais Mattéo Guendouzi and the Monegasque Aurélien Tchouameni.

If it took place before the eyes of coach Didier Deschamps, the two men, good in their record, did not however make sparks.

Tchouameni and his physical power were however gradually dominated by the rage and technique of Guendouzi, on loan from Arsenal.

- "Hey, hey, hey, Bamba, Bamba" -

We were finally waiting for the resurrection of the duo Wissam Ben Yedder-Kevin Volland, ASM's master duo last season.

Both ran, worked for the team.

But they have been absolutely ineffective and the situation in Monaco is starting to get critical.

A man has therefore surpassed all his expectations: Bamba Dieng, who, this season, had only played one small minute in L1 during the victory in Montpellier (3-2).

Launched as a professional last season by Nasser Larguet in the Coupe de France against Auxerre (2-0), on February 10, he then scored in stoppage time.

In Monaco, the importance of the meeting was different.

Moreover, the revelation of the match was celebrated long after its release with "Ohé, ohé, ohé, Bamba, Bamba"!

His double will allow him to hope to enter more often in the offensive rotation of an OM which becomes more and more attractive every day.
