The new construction at Piren in Karlshamn has received sharp criticism in rounds by the municipality's auditors.

Now it's time again - the auditors demand that the municipal company Karlshamnsfastigheter produce a final sum for the project.

From the beginning, it was thought that the 10,000 square meter construction would cost SEK 300 million to complete.

It was then increased to SEK 430 million.

Requires a number

When the municipality's property manager Magnus Persson stepped in as CEO of Karlshamnsfastigheter in early 2021, he flagged that the budget was insufficient.

How much more expensive the construction will be has since been unclear.

But now the auditors are putting their foot down and demanding a final sum.

Karlshamnsfastigheter must be able to specify an interval for the final cost, a best or worst outcome.

This information must be communicated immediately to the municipal board to provide more time to handle increased costs in relation to previous final costs, the auditors write.

Will be ready in 2022

The construction of the Pier will include a concert hall, several hundred workplaces, a cinema and a restaurant.

The plan is for everything to be ready next autumn.
