That the hostel can now reopen soon comes at the right time.

That is the opinion of Carola Karlsson and Ingmarie Englund, employees at the night shelter.

- It's now we really need it, the nights are very cold now.

It has quickly gone from being nice nights to cold nights, says Carola Karlsson, volunteer coordinator.

Lack of volunteers

The goal is to be able to offer sleeping places every day of the week, but for that there are currently no volunteers.

- We will not be able to say that we can be open seven days a week, because there are not that many people.

So we get to take week after week and how the schedule fills up, you also get to go out every Monday or Sunday and talk about which days we can be open.

We do not want to work like that, we want to be able to be open every day, says Carola Karlsson.

At present, they expect to be able to be open three to four days a week.

"Helped me extremely much"

André Bölja was previously homeless and then used to sleep at Hudiksvall's night shelter.

Today he sometimes comes there during the day for coffee.

He is grateful for the help the shelter has given him.

- When I had no home, they helped me extremely much, otherwise I might have been dead somewhere, says André Bölja.

The night shelter in Hudiksvall is run by money from the municipality, gifts from private individuals and volunteer work.
