The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect shot multiple people in East St. Louis, but the exact number is unclear.
According to KMOV-TV, a subsidiary of CBS, the three suspects opened fire while trying to pass a train at a railroad crossing. The escaped vehicle was hit by the train.
The police are searching for the suspect in the nearby woods.
There are reports that about 10 people were inspected for injuries at the scene.
The Illinois State Police said at a press conference that the shooting occurred after 4 pm on the 9th.
