Less than three years from the Paris-2024 Olympics, Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu will sit on the executive committee of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), she announced on Friday.

"France will join the executive body of the World Anti-Doping Agency since I will sit on the executive committee from January 1, 2022," said the minister during a press conference.

The WADA Executive Committee, which is based in Montreal, is made up of 14 members, including representatives of the Olympic movement and appointed public authorities.

WADA is chaired by the Polish Witold Banka, former Minister of Sports.

"We want to continue the work that Marie-George Buffet started in France (...), to have a real presence, a real action in the field of the fight against doping", added the Minister.
