Warnings escalated internally and externally about the consequences of Lebanon's fall into chaos and collapse with the deepening of the economic and social crisis, and the failure of the formation of the government continued for nearly a year.

In a warning that was described as the strongest issued by a high-ranking security official, the Director-General of Public Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, called on the security establishment to persevere, warning of chaos if the state fell.

In a circular for the General Security Forces, Abbas said, "The crisis that Lebanon is going through may be prolonged," warning that "the fall of the state will fall on everyone without exception, and everyone will be in the eye of chaos and on the line of tensions."

For his part, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, warned that the country is heading towards a complete collapse if steps are not taken to address the crisis caused by the worsening financial collapse since 2019.

Derian said in the Friday sermon, "We fear that after this long time, the patience of the Lebanese will run out, and we will all fall into the furnace of comprehensive chaos, which we are beginning to see manifestations in various fields."

The Mufti added, "We are not satisfied with being false witnesses to what is happening in our country. The matter needs serious and immediate treatment, and patching does not work. Let us quit our confusion, otherwise we are really going to the worst and to a complete collapse."

The crisis caused a shortage of fuel, which paralyzed basic services, and coincided with violence due to attempts to obtain gasoline.

In the 1500s, 30% of the Lebanese people were poor, while today we have exceeded 70%..

worst meltdowns

Yesterday, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, called on all Lebanese leaders to "urgently form an effective national unity government", something they were unable to achieve for a year.

The World Bank describes the crisis in Lebanon as one of the worst collapses ever recorded, while foreign donors say they will provide aid once a government is formed that initiates reforms that address the root causes of the crisis.

The President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, has not yet agreed, with Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati, to form a government to replace the caretaker government, which resigned after the explosion of the port of Beirut last year.

In his press statements today, Mikati said that great obstacles still hindered him from forming a government, warning that the situation in Lebanon was still very dangerous.

On 8/25/2021, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate seized a hungarian in the Zahle area, belonging to citizen A.S., containing a camouflaged tank containing 54,000 liters of diesel fuel and a 12-ton gas tank. The seizures were confiscated based on a discriminatory signal from the Public Prosecution. http://t.co/MNHJeQ0GeX

Diab's pursuit

In a related context, the Parliament’s General Secretariat informed the Discriminatory Public Prosecution that the prosecution of the caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, in the Beirut port explosion case is not within the jurisdiction of the judicial judiciary according to the constitution.

She added that the case is being followed up by Parliament to take the necessary measures.

This comes after the judicial investigator issued a subpoena against Diab for his refusal to attend a hearing for his statements.

The investigator had accused Diab, 3 deputies, and leaders of security and military agencies on charges of possible intent to murder, and causing the death and injury of hundreds of people.

Diab refuses to appear before the judicial investigator, arguing that the Presidents and Ministers Trial Council is the body competent to follow up on the case.
