Petrov said that in the course of his activities he often encounters proposals from citizens to create a unified state program to restore the lost monuments of material culture destroyed during the Red Terror and the Great Patriotic War.

In his opinion, the preservation of "a visual and material historical canvas" is the basis for the spiritual revival of the country and the foundation of a "healthy moral environment."

At the same time, he stressed that, despite the state, many objects are still subject to restoration.

“In this regard, I ask you to consider the possibility of developing and implementing a new National Project, the purpose of which will be to create a single list of historical objects in need of salvation and subsequent restoration,” reads the text of the appeal.

According to him, such a national project could be called "Resurrection" or "Lazar" as "a symbol of the revival of the material heritage of Russia."

Earlier it was reported that the restoration of the Transfiguration Cathedral of the Novospassky Monastery ensemble, according to plans, will be carried out until 2023.
