On September 8, the Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the head of the department, Yevgeny Zinichev, died tragically in the line of duty, saving a person's life during interdepartmental exercises.

Later it became known that Zinichev died saving the famous film director Alexander Melnik.

As it was specified, Melnik worked at the site of interdepartmental exercises conducted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

Farewell to Zinichev will be held in Moscow, the funeral in St. Petersburg.

The Kremlin said that Russian leader Vladimir Putin will take part in the farewell ceremony for the deceased head of the Emergencies Ministry Yevgeny Zinichev.
