A Munich court on Thursday evening sentenced Olympique Lyonnais defender Jérôme Boateng, German football star, to a 1.8 million euro fine for violence against his ex-partner and mother of his two children.

The magistrates found him guilty of assault and battery after a day of hearing and fined him thirty times 30,000 euros, or a total of 1.8 million euros, the journalists observed on the spot.

The former German international defender and Bayern Munich faced a maximum sentence of five years in prison for the incidents which occurred during a vacation in the Caribbean in July 2018.
