"The resources available to the CSTO member states are sufficient to control the situation, including in case of attempts by militants and terrorist organizations to cross the border of states adjacent to Afghanistan under the guise of refugees," Borisov quotes TASS.

According to him, the risk of a mass exodus of refugees from Afghan territory to neighboring countries is increasing.

He noted that “this is fraught with direct threats to the security of the Central Asian states and may lead to the destabilization of the region,” Borisov said.

"I consider the progress of preparation for signing a plan to equip the Collective Rapid Reaction Forces of the CSTO with modern weapons, military and special equipment, and special means," the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He said that the situation in Afghanistan is the subject of the closest attention of the CSTO states.

“We need to continue to maintain regular contacts through the security agencies,” added Borisov.

Earlier it was reported that on September 9, the presidents of Belarus and Russia, Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin, will discuss a number of issues at the meeting, including the situation in Afghanistan.
