The construction of the Nord Stream 2 trans-Baltic pipeline is in its final stages.

“We hope that nothing and no one will be able to interfere with the commissioning of this large infrastructure facility,” Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the Russian President, said on the air of Channel One.

He noted that Washington had long declared their intentions in any way to hinder the implementation of the project, and in Kiev "in connection with Nord Stream 2, they are shouting the guard."

“Although against the background of these shouts, President Putin also said quite a long time ago and quite recently reiterated unequivocally: if appropriate contracts are concluded, and also provided that it is economically feasible and profitable, Russia will and is ready to continue transit through Ukraine,” added Peskov ...

At the same time, according to him, various attempts to hinder the implementation of the project were unsuccessful.

The Kremlin spokesman also believes that statements about the alleged danger of Nord Stream 2 are unlikely to be heeded against the background of current world prices for raw materials.

So, at 17:27 Moscow time on September 9, the cost of the October futures in the TTF hub in the Netherlands exceeded $ 700 per 1,000 cubic meters.

m.

“As for these warnings to Ukrainians, Europeans that this is an extremely dangerous project and so on, against the background of current gas prices, the current catastrophic situation with the filling of underground gas storages, probably hardly anyone is ready to listen to these cries,” - explained Peskov.

He also emphasized that gas continues to be the cleanest fuel, and pipeline gas is guaranteed in terms of volume, rhythm, and price: "And this will be the way it will be in the foreseeable future."

“Therefore, gas is needed.

And in order to have more gas for the developing and emerging Europe from the pandemic, it must go along two lines.

Europe is interested in this, ”said the spokesman for the Russian leader.

In turn, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing for journalists, indicated that Nord Stream 2 will strategically strengthen Europe's energy security for decades to come.

According to her, it is time for all opponents of the project to stop creating obstacles to it: "The time has come to agree on reasonable, mutually beneficial parameters for the operation of the gas pipeline."

She noted that for many years Moscow has disavowed fakes about SP-2, emphasizing that this is a purely economic project and Russia "has no plans to use it for any other purpose."

“We sincerely hope that Nord Stream 2 will cease to be the subject of all sorts of political speculations, stuffing, information campaigns, a pretext for illegal restrictive measures, and in general, in principle, will leave such a confrontational agenda,” the representative of the foreign ministry emphasized.

The Foreign Ministry hopes that European citizens "will hear, understand and really realize that they are receiving real benefits from this joint international project," which is a positive example of mutually beneficial partnership between Russia and Europe based on the principles of respect for interests and mutual benefit.

“I really want to be really heard by Europeans, residents of various countries, cities of Europe, because so many times they became victims of their media, which distorted the data, were engaged, unfortunately, assenting and playing along with the information campaigns that were carried out by the relevant lobbying structures”, - Zakharova said.

The day before, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the Russian corporation Gazprom plans to start pumping gas through the first string of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from October 1.

At the same time, the company intends to start transporting gas to Germany along both lines by December 1.

As Maria Zakharova noted, the timing of the start of commercial deliveries depends on the position of the German regulator.

“We expect that millions of European consumers will soon be able to receive Russian gas via the shortest, most economical and environmentally friendly route,” the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

On September 6, Nord Stream 2 AG announced that the specialists of the pipe-laying barge Fortuna had welded the last pipe of the second string of Nord Stream 2.

This will be followed by a docking of a section of the gas pipeline running from the coast of Germany with a section stretching from the waters of Denmark.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Nord Stream 2 will be completed in a few days.

A member of the Berlin Senate from the Christian Democratic Union of Germany and candidate for the Bundestag, Mario Chaya, speaking about the completion of the construction of Nord Stream 2, expressed his satisfaction that it was possible to overcome political differences between different countries and this project is now being considered from a rational point of view, and not from any other political angle.

"I also consider it important that all activities are carried out in accordance with contractual obligations, without attempts to use an agreement in which all points, in fact, have already been negotiated, for some other purpose when changing political framework conditions," added the interlocutor of RT ...

Despite the pressure exerted on the project, common sense ultimately won out, he said.

Axel Vogt, the mayor of Lubmin, Germany, where the pipe laying ended, in a conversation with RT expressed confidence that all countries and companies involved in the project will be able to resolve issues and the first Russian gas will flow through these pipes by the end of 2021.

Nord Stream 2 consists of two gas pipeline strings with a length of over 1200 km each and a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters.

m per year.

The pipes pass through the exclusive economic zones and territorial waters of Russia, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Germany.

On the eve, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak discussed the possibility of using gas transit through Ukraine after 2024 with the representative of the German government on this issue, Georg Graf Waldersee.

According to the press service of the Russian government, the parties agreed to continue the relevant consultations.
