Prime Minister Suga met with relevant ministers on the 7th, over the measures against the new coronavirus.

The government is coordinating to extend the state of emergency mainly in urban areas such as the Tokyo metropolitan area, and it is believed that the talks were held to discuss the target area and the extent of the extension.

As a measure against the new coronavirus, the government has declared a state of emergency in 21 prefectures such as Tokyo and Osaka, and has applied priority measures such as prevention of spread to 12 prefectures, all of which are due on the 12th of this month. ..

Under these circumstances, Prime Minister Suga had an hour-long meeting with relevant ministers such as Minister for Economic Revitalization Nishimura and Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare Tamura at the Prime Minister's Office from around 5:30 pm on the 7th.

Although the number of newly infected people is declining, the government has declared that the number of seriously ill people is still high and the medical care provision system is still severe, mainly in urban areas such as the Tokyo metropolitan area. We are making adjustments in the direction of extension, and it seems that discussions were held at the meeting regarding the target area and the width of the extension.

Then, once the policy is finalized, it will be officially decided by the Countermeasures Headquarters on the 9th after consulting with the "Basic Coping Policy Subcommittee" created by experts on infectious diseases.
