08 September 2021 Queen Elizabeth II wrote to some students of a school in Campobasso.

In recent days, a special letter has been delivered to the comprehensive "Igino Petrone" Institute of the Molise capital.

It was addressed to two first grades of lower secondary school, 1A and 1B (the boys will start attending the second in a few days) who at the end of last school year had sent a message of condolence to the Queen of England for the death of her husband, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

The students had made a mural with the Queen's effigy in their classroom, accompanied by a collective message of participation in her grief for the loss of her husband. Surprisingly, the answer came from Buckingham Palace: the Queen thanked the boys by sending them a photograph of the prince and colloquially signing "Elizabeth R", where "R" stands for "Queen" in Latin.
