It was on Friday that the County Administrative Board in Uppsala County decided on protection hunting for an adult wolf, a hunting that would be allowed until 30 September.

The decision was appealed by several different actors to the Administrative Court in Luleå, which inhibited the decision until the case is decided.

This means that the county administrative board interrupts the protection hunt.

The Administrative Court finds that the County Administrative Board's investigation and assessment regarding the maintenance of favorable conservation status of wolves contains ambiguities.

The County Administrative Board now has the opportunity to clarify its assessment.

- As the decision is being reviewed, we will now develop and clarify the reasons for our decision. These are difficult considerations where we must safeguard both the genetic status of the wolves in the area, as well as the opportunity to engage in sheep farming, says Lennart Nordvarg, head of the environmental department at the County Administrative Board of Uppsala County in a press release.
