An American man who reported to police that a Tesla driver fled after hitting him has been put in cages.

According to foreign media such as Fox News on the 8th local time, the Louisiana State Police Department received a hit and run report at around 4 pm on the 3rd and rushed to the parking lot of a gas station.

Reporter Arthur Bates, 47, was lying on the floor of a parking lot in pain.

"I was hit by a Tesla car reversing to park, and I ran away," he claimed.

Bates also complained of injuries to his back, leg and neck in the accident, and an ambulance and fire brigade were dispatched to the scene.

The police, who soon tracked down the driver of the Tesla vehicle in question, got an unexpected answer while interrogating the accident.

Bates deliberately jumped behind the car and disguised the accident.

The police, who checked the camera video of the Tesla vehicle, actually caught a scene where Bates forcibly bumped his knee into a vehicle that was slowly reversing and then rolled himself to the floor.

When the driver got out of the car, he contorted his face as if in pain, and when the driver turned around, he quickly changed his posture.

Bates, who was exposed to clear evidence, eventually admitted to the police that he made up a 'self-made play' and made a false report.

Police said Bates did not appear to have been unaware that Tesla had multiple cameras installed in all directions and all recorded footage was saved.

Bates, who was arrested by the police, is expected to be charged with "false reporting for the purpose of emergency dispatch."

This is a 'news pick'.
