Mali: the former secretary general of the presidency arrested by the intelligence services

In Mali, the former secretary general of the presidency Kalilou Doumbia was arrested by the intelligence services.

His disappearance has been the concern of his relatives since Monday, but according to RFI information, the collaborator of the former transitional president Bah N'Daw would in fact be detained by State Security.

. Secretary General of the Presidency, with the rank of Minister, Kalilou Doumbia then took refuge in an embassy. 

Kalilou Doumbia had since resumed his life as a teacher-researcher.

A lawyer by training, Kalilou Doumbia left his home early Monday afternoon for the Law University of Bamako, where he teaches.

His colleagues never saw him arrive.

His family tries to reach him without success until the evening and finally decides to report his disappearance the next morning to the police.

But, according to information cross-checked by RFI, Kalilou Doumbia was arrested by State Security, Malian intelligence, and has since been questioned and detained at the Kati military camp.

Why was he arrested?

Some sources assure that Kalilou Doumbia had on several occasions, and until very recently, been approached by Colonel Assimi Goïta in person, who wished to work with him.

Was it his refusal that motivated this arrest?

Unless it is linked to the 

recent release

of ex-president and prime minister, Bah N'Daw and Moctar Ouane, whose placement under house arrest ended a little over two weeks ago?

Does Kalilou Doumbia hold information of interest to the authorities? 

Asked by RFI on the subject, the presidency did not follow up.
