Two young men were arrested on Saturday by the anti-crime brigade in the Caucriauville district, in Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), after the discovery of hundreds of jars of tobacco in their car, reports 76actu.

What was supposed to be a banal check turned into a search.

In all, the two suspects were in possession of “91 jars of 125 grams of tobacco and 15 jars of 80 grams.

They also discovered several packs of cigarettes ”, according to a judicial source.

The vehicle seized

The two young people from Le Havre, aged 19 and 20, denied the resale of this tobacco.

They explained that during a single stay in Belgium and Luxembourg, they brought back this tobacco for their personal consumption.

But, suspecting trafficking, a police investigation revealed that the car in question is not on its first trip to these destinations.

The vehicle was therefore seized and the two young men were placed in police custody and will be subject to an appearance on prior admission of guilt.
