Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that his country is working with Qatar and the United States on the issue of managing Kabul Airport.

Cavusoglu added in an interview broadcast today, Tuesday, by the Turkish NTV channel, that 19 Turkish technicians are in Kabul and are holding talks with the Qatari side regarding the airport.

He added that security at the airport is the main issue, noting that a private company can take over the security of Kabul airport if one of the countries is not allowed.

He also said that a complete withdrawal of Turkey from Afghanistan would be inappropriate.

The Turkish minister stated that his country was in talks with the Taliban, and Ankara had informed the movement that it would not participate in the mission of securing the airport unless its units participated in security, as reported by Reuters.

On the Afghan issue as well, Cavusoglu said that Turkey cannot bear another wave of immigration from Afghanistan, adding that his country wants Iran to take measures on its part as well.

The phone conversation between bin Zayed (right) and Erdogan a week ago dealt with strengthening bilateral relations, according to the Emirates News Agency (agencies).

Relations with the UAE

On the other hand, the Turkish Foreign Minister said that his country sees positive momentum in the talks with the UAE, explaining that relations between the two countries will return to their tracks if this momentum continues.

Cavusoglu added that relations between the two countries can be normalized if mutual steps are taken, and the conditions are right.

A week ago, a telephone conversation took place between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, during which the two sides discussed strengthening bilateral relations, according to the Emirates News Agency.

Before that, Erdogan had received in Ankara the UAE National Security Adviser, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

A statement issued at the time by the Turkish Presidency Communication Department stated that they discussed relations between the two countries and regional issues, noting that Erdogan and Mohammed bin Zayed discussed the UAE's investments in Turkey.
