And one more megastar: Elton John is added to the Parisian programming of the concert event for the planet scheduled for September 25 by the NGO Global Citizen, the organizers said on Tuesday.

The interpreter of "Rocket Man" completes an already rich poster on the Champ de Mars, in Paris, with Ed Sheeran, DJ Snake, Black Eyed Peas, Christine and the Queens, Doja Cat, HER and Angélique Kidjo.

Stormzy, Charlie Puth and Fatma Said were also announced Tuesday for the Paris stage (free, with tickets) of this global event.

“I am honored to take the stage in Paris with such an incredibly talented group of artists to support Global Citizen and the important work this organization does to improve the lives of people around the world,” Elton John said in a statement.

"Faced with the climate emergency, the fight against inequalities and the post-Covid global recovery, we need to make a radical change in our lifestyles, rethink our relationship with nature as well as our ways of producing and consuming" , indicates Anne Hidalgo, mayor of Paris, in the text sent by the organizers.

As a reminder, on the same day, Coldplay and Billie Eilish will perform in New York, while Femi Kuti is expected in Lagos. Central Park in New York will also benefit from Jennifer Lopez, Lizzo, Meek Mill, Shawn Mendes, Alessia Cara, Burna Boy, Cyndi Lauper, Jon Batiste, Camila Cabello and Lang Lang. Lagos will also host Davido, Tiwa Savage and Made Kuti. The lineup for London and Los Angeles will be unveiled shortly.

Through "Global Citizen Live" (GCL), artists will call on "governments, corporations and philanthropists to work together to defend the planet and overcome poverty, focusing on the most pressing threats," said organizers.

The targets are "climate change, equity in vaccines and famine".

To win tickets to the Paris and New York festivals, fans can “support the campaign and take action on GlobalCitizenLive.org”.

These concert events will be broadcast for 24 hours on all continents on September 25 (on TF1 / TMC, ABC, ABC News Live, BBC, FX, iHeartRadio, Hulu, YouTube, TIME, Twitter, among others).
