A 6-year-old girl from the United States has died after riding on an amusement ride that falls vertically down to a depth of about 34 meters.

The Associated Press reported on the 6th (local time) that a 6-year-old child died while riding a dangerous ride at Glenwood Caverns Amusement Park, an amusement park in Colorado, USA.

The amusement park only confirmed that the accident occurred on the 6th and that the child was injured and died, but did not disclose details regarding the cause of death.

Colorado's Garfield County coroner said amusement park staff gave first aid until paramedics arrived, but the child died at the scene.

The park said the investigation is ongoing with the police and plans to close until the 7th.

The deceased child is said to have visited an amusement park with his family over the US Labor Day holiday.

The ride where the fatal accident occurred was a structure in the form of a vertical fall into a dark underground 110 feet (about 34 m) deep, and the park registered the structure as the first underground entry type ride in 2017.

Visitors are required to sign an accident liability waiver from the park before riding the ride, the Associated Press reported.
