Last week, the news came that the ex-husband of the woman who was stabbed to death at the train station in Linköping this spring is charged with murder.

The prosecutor describes the incident on April 15 as a pure execution where the man gave her about 40 stab wounds all over her body.

In parallel with the legal process, both Motala and Tranås municipality have investigated what happened within the framework of lex Sarah, and now Ivo lands in that the social committee in Tranås has done enough to investigate the incident and prevent something similar from happening again.

Failure in the risk assessment

The social services in Tranås had knowledge that the man had used violence against the woman on several occasions and the woman was placed in sheltered housing in 2015 due to the abuse.

But despite this, the municipality's own investigation, which was presented this summer, shows that there have been opportunities for the suspect to commit lethal violence.

The safety of the children was taken into account in all situations, but the right measures were not taken for the woman.

- We have a great responsibility.

We have not contributed to the man murdering the woman, but we have failed in the risk assessment.

We have not really thought about the consequences of the violence, said Angelica Freeman, section manager of the social services in Tranås when the municipality's investigation was presented in July.

Rejected Motala's investigation

Just over three weeks ago, Ivo rejected the investigation that Motala municipality had submitted and gave the message that the investigation would continue in a supervisory matter.

The municipality of Tranås, on the other hand, has, according to the supervisory authority, identified the underlying causes and taken measures to prevent recurrence.

Among other things, by hiring a quality developer in the work with violence in close relationships and honor-related violence.

In the clip below, the deputy chief prosecutor tells what surveillance images from the murder scene show.
