The Popular Party has registered a question in the Congress of Deputies addressed to the second vice president of the Government, Yolanda Díaz, in which she is questioned about the preparation of the prologue for a reissue of
the Communist Manifesto
.
"How does the second vice president of the Government justify her apology for a political slogan that has caused a hundred million deaths?"
It is the question drafted by the
popular
deputies
Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo and
Pilar Marcos
, sent this Monday to the Table of Congress, and with which the PP intends that the leader of United We Can in the Executive explain her writing and her position regarding communism .
Díaz signs the prologue of a reissue of
the Communist Manifesto
, by
Karl Marx
and
Friedrich Engels
, coinciding with the centenary of the founding of the PCE, a party in which she is a member.
The book is published by Galaxia Gutenberg and will hit bookstores this week.
The publication of this new installment is, in the eyes of Díaz, "an act of memory and redemption, which happily joins the commemoration this year of the centenary of the Communist Party of Spain."
"Defense of democracy and freedom"
In her text, the second vice president of the Executive believes that the book "tells us about utopias, encrypted in our present" and in which "beats, today as yesterday, a vital and passionate defense of democracy and freedom."
Díaz points out that Marx and Engels, with the writing of the manifesto, "opened a new conversation" through a "spirit as hopeful as it is revolutionary."
"As a social theorist, Marx disrupted the ideological schemes of the bourgeois class, of capitalism, bursting the seams and traps of their language and, at the same time, their ability to dominate," reflects Díaz in the prologue, reproduced in full by
El País
.
"The communist manifesto
is one of those magical and inexhaustible books, born to last, that manage to portray reality and, at the same time, transfigure it," continues the Minister of Labor on the work of Marx and Engels.
The opposition rejects it
Faced with this text, the opposition has denounced that the second vice president and leader of the United Podemos government has made an "apology" of an ideology, communism, which has caused "one hundred million deaths" in the last century.
Álvarez de Toledo herself has used the same term that, Díaz, "magical", although in an ironic sense, to define the prologue written by the Minister of Labor to commemorate the centenary of the founding of the PCE, a formation that, according to what she emphasizes in the text, "would suffer, throughout his troubled life, wars, repression, exile and secrecy."
"After reading Vice President Yolanda Díaz's magical prologue to the Communist Manifesto, we have asked the leadership of the Popular Parliamentary Group to present this question to the Government," Álvarez de Toledo said.
