Vyacheslav Slavkin, Deputy Consul General of Russia in New York, said this in a comment to TASS.

“Our consulate general has been reduced in terms of the number of diplomats due to the fact that the Americans do not issue visas, in fact, three times,” he said, commenting on the situation with preparations for the elections to the State Duma on September 19.

According to the interlocutor of the publication, despite the reduction in the number of employees, preparations for the electoral process are proceeding normally.

“We do not see any problems.

In accordance with the established procedure, we informed the authorities of the host country about the holding of the elections, so that the competent US authorities provide an appropriate security regime.

We were promised maximum assistance in these matters, "- said Slavkin.

The Russian Consul General in New York Sergei Ovsyannikov said earlier that the number of participants in the elections in the Consulate General in New York could reach 2 thousand people.

The plot on the territory of the Consulate General will be open from 08:00 to 20:00 on September 19.
