Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this Monday during a speech at the Global Industrie fair in Lyon, the extension for six months, until June 30, 2022, of France Relance aid for apprenticeship.

This bonus of 5,000 euros for a minor, 8,000 for an adult, had already been extended in the spring until December 2021.

Prime Minister Jean Castex announced, Monday during a speech at the Global Industrie fair in Lyon, the extension for six months, until June 30, 2022, of aid from France Relance for apprenticeship.

The bonus provided for under the plan "a young person, a solution" of 5,000 euros for a minor, 8,000 for an adult, which makes the cost of the first year almost zero, had already been extended in the spring until December 2021 .

A "historic record" of apprenticeship contracts in 2020

"The results are there" in terms of professional integration thanks to this plan, welcomed the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, pointing out a "historical record" of more than 500,000 apprenticeship or work-study contracts signed (i.e. 42% more than in 2019, according to data from Dares). "We believe in learning," said Jean Castex, announcing the extension of the device.

"2.6 million young people have so far directly benefited from aid from France Relance for employment, integration or training," he also noted.

The extension of aid "is very good news for apprenticeship and crafts as a whole," responded Joël Fourny, president of CMA France, the national organization of chambers of trades and crafts.

A system deemed effective for professional integration

Faced with recruitment difficulties, "this announcement gives visibility to business leaders in this return with very promising first increases", he added, noting an "increase of + 8% at the end of August by compared to the same period last year "the number of apprentices. "A real dynamic is underway, a quarter of companies say they are ready to welcome one or more apprentices", according to Joël Fourny.

The increase in contracts is partly the consequence of the 2018 reform which liberalized apprenticeship both on entry conditions and on the training offer. Accessible to young people aged 16 to 29, apprenticeship is based on the principle of alternating between theoretical education and vocational training with the employer with whom the apprentice has signed his contract. The system is considered effective for professional integration - six months after leaving an apprenticeship training center (CFA), 62% of apprentices are in paid employment - but it has long suffered from a degraded image.
