Local sources told Al Jazeera that, this morning, the regime forces renewed the bombing of the neighborhoods of the city of Daraa Al-Balad in southern Syria with artillery shells and rocket launchers, despite the Russian-sponsored ceasefire agreement.

The sources added that several civilians were wounded in artillery and missile shelling launched by the regime forces on neighborhoods in the city, including Al-Sad and Daraa camp.

She explained that the bombing came after a meeting between the Houran clans to discuss negotiations with the Russian side and the Syrian regime.

The bombing follows violent clashes that took place yesterday evening, Saturday, between armed men from Daraa residents and the Syrian regime forces in the vicinity of Daraa al-Balad.

The regime had given the fighters from Daraa residents, who reject the settlement, until four o'clock yesterday afternoon, Saturday, to get out of it.

The Negotiations Committee for the People said that it had asked Russia to secure a mass displacement of the people of Daraa al-Balad to Turkey or Jordan.

The committee said that the demand to secure a mass displacement of the people of Daraa al-Balad came as a result of the siege and the harsh conditions in which Daraa al-Balad is living, and became known to all.

The committee added that the purpose of displacement to Turkey or Jordan is to enter the territories of the two countries and not to reach northern Syria. It also clarified that one of the Syrian regime officials said that Turkey had agreed to the request to enter the displaced, and it turned out that this was not true, after the clans communicated with the concerned parties in Turkey. .

The central committees assigned to the people of Daraa governorate reject the presence of regime forces inside the neighborhoods of Daraa, hand over weapons, or allow their homes to be searched, and reject the presence of armed groups loyal to Iran in their areas.

The opposition warns

In turn, the opposition Syrian National Coalition warned of what it called Iran’s completion of its project in Daraa and southern Syria, saying that the Syrian regime is being implemented with the Russian partnership.

The coalition added in a statement, that the project will change the population structure of the area with the continuation of the siege and bombardment, leading to forced displacement.

He also warned that the damages of this project will not be limited to Hauran or Syria, but will extend to all countries in the region, especially Jordan and the Arab Gulf states.

The coalition called on the Arab countries and Turkey to intervene urgently to save the people of Daraa, lift the siege on them and protect them from what it described as the brutality of the militias.

The Syrian regime launched more than one military campaign to control the city, especially after the people refused to participate in the presidential elections that took place last May.

The Russian side, which rejected the displacement process, intervened and called for more than once meetings between the delegations of the regime and the people of Daraa, and an unstable calm took place due to the regime’s intermittent bombing of the area.

The estimated remaining population of Daraa al-Balad is about 50,000 people who have been trapped inside the city for more than two months.
