Hurricane Ida has killed at least 62 people in the United States.

Local media reports say that the death toll from Hurricane Ida has risen to at least 49 in the flooded northeastern United States.

By state, there were at least 27 deaths in New Jersey and at least 16 deaths in New York.

Previous deaths have also occurred in Pennsylvania and Connecticut, with four still missing in New Jersey alone, and the death toll could rise further.

In southern Louisiana, where 12 people have died so far, a hurricane cut power grids and air conditioners stopped working, and a heat wave continues for the sixth day, causing residents to suffer.

In addition, a man in his 20s was shot and killed by a young man in his twenties after an argument at a gas station in the suburbs of New Orleans on the 3rd of the last 3 days as the operation of generators and vehicle air conditioners increased significantly, leading to a shortage of gasoline.

President Joe Biden visited Louisiana on the 3rd, and the next day he will visit New Jersey and New York to inspect the damage, the White House said.
