China News Service, Moscow, September 4 (Reporter Wang Xiujun) September 3 is the 76th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the 76th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in Russia.

On the 3rd, Chinese Ambassador to Russia Zhang Hanhui was invited to attend the memorial ceremony for the Soviet soldiers in the Battle of Dongning during World War II held by the Russian side at the Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.

Zhang Hanhui said that the war of aggression launched by fascism and militarism has brought unprecedented catastrophe to the peoples of China, Russia and all countries in the world.

The two countries and the two peoples have made major contributions to the victory of the world anti-fascist war.

In the early days of the Anti-Japanese War, the Soviet Union provided direct military assistance to China.

In the later period of the Anti-Japanese War, the Soviet Union sent troops to Northeast China to conduct a series of combat operations such as the Battle of Dongning, which played an important role in the eventual victory over fascism and forcing Japan to surrender unconditionally.

The Chinese people will never forget the help of the Russian people and the friendship formed by blood.

More than 70 memorial facilities for Soviet martyrs have been set up in China, which has become an important symbol of the friendship between the two countries for generations.

What is worthy of vigilance is that some countries have tried to distort the history of World War II, deny the historical contributions of China and the Soviet Union in the world anti-fascist war, and even openly pay homage to the memorial tablets of war criminals to beautify their aggressive behavior.

As early as 2015, China and Russia issued a joint statement, stating that "certain forces in the world continue to attempt to deny history, distort the results of victory in World War II, and distort the verdicts of the International Military Tribunals in Nuremberg and the Far East. We must resolutely oppose this."

Zhang Hanhui emphasized that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Russian Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Friendship.

China is willing to work with Russia to continue to promote the spirit of the treaty, follow the consensus of the two heads of state as the fundamental basis, continue to consolidate strategic cooperation, safeguard the victory of World War II, defend international fairness and justice, and promote the development of international order in a more fair and reasonable direction.

Russian Deputy Minister of Defense Kartapolov stated that 76 years ago today, World War II, the most tragic in human history, officially ended, and the Russian and Chinese people made indelible contributions to the victory of World War II.

We must not forget that Japanese militarists invaded Northeast China and looked at the Soviet Far East.

In order to win the world anti-fascist war as soon as possible, the Soviet Red Army decided to launch an operation against Japan, which accelerated the demise of Japanese fascism.

We must keep in mind the merits of the martyrs, and continue to pass on this glorious memory.

The card also expressed gratitude to China for setting up and maintaining the memorial facilities for Soviet martyrs in China.

The representatives of the veterans of the Soviet army and the children of heroes who attended the event expressed that they must cherish and keep in mind the blood-coagulated combat friendship between the Russian and Chinese military and civilians, not forget the history, maintain peace, and resolutely defend the victory of World War II.

All attending the event presented flowers to the tomb of Soviet soldiers who participated in the Battle of Dongning, including Admiral Kistyakov.

Dongning was the last area occupied by the Northeast after the "September 18th" Incident, and it was also the place where the largest number of Chinese laborers were collectively buried by the Japanese invaders.

The Japanese Kwantung Army built the largest military fortress in the Asian battlefield of World War II—Dongning Fortress in Dongning.

In order to accelerate the victory of the world anti-fascist war, on August 9, 1945, the Soviet army marched into the northeast from the east, west, and north lines, and gave the final blow to the Japanese Kwantung Army entrenched in northeastern China. The Battle of Dongning became the last of World War II. The First World War was an important testimony of the Chinese and Russian people fighting side by side.
