The law was created six months ago so that individual store owners can prevent caught thieves from staying in their stores.

But special circumstances are required to get the person convicted in court at all, such as repeated thefts or the person seriously harassing someone who is in the store.

- It is a huge problem that the prosecutor only writes that there are insufficient reasons to get a restraining order.

It is impossible for the store to be able to read what is missing and what you can supplement the report with, says Per Geijer, head of security at Svensk Handel.

One person has been banned from accessing five stores

In City and Norrort, a total of ten access bans have been issued, of which a single person is responsible for five of the access bans.

Most applications have been received in Västerort - 14.

Despite this, no bans have been issued in either Västerort or Söderort since the law was introduced on 1 March 2021.

The industry estimates that half a percent of sales disappear in thefts.
