According to a press release on the institutional website and press reports, the Entity, in addition to the fleet of drones already used by the local police, would like to use others to monitor '' any gatherings incompatible with the limitations due to the management of Covid pandemic ''. The Municipality must provide the Guarantor with all the requested information within 20 days (technical characteristics of the drones, purposes pursued, retention times of the images, communications to third parties), by sending a copy of any impact assessment on data protection provided for by the Regulation. EU.



At the end of August - the note continues -, a similar request for information was sent to

Roma Capitale

. According to press reports, in fact, from next autumn the Local Police of Rome will be equipped with 9 small drones for the monitoring and control of the city territory (environmental crimes, illegal waste, toxic fires, building abuses, traffic needs). With the start of the investigation, the Guarantor intends to verify the impact of the initiative on the privacy of the persons concerned and the timely compliance with the legislation on data processing. Within 20 days, Roma Capitale, in addition to providing the requested information, must send a copy of the impact assessment or specify the reasons why it did not consider it necessary to carry it out.



Finally, on 3 September - continues the note -, a request for information was sent to the

ASL Roma 3 company

to verify the correct processing of personal data, including health-related data, as part of an initiative scheduled for 4 and 5 September on the beaches of Ostia. According to press reports, the health company intends to measure the body temperature of all people on the beach using a drone. Considering the delicacy of the personal data processing that is intended to be carried out, in the absence of a clear legal basis that can legitimize them, the Guarantor has asked the company to provide a series of clarifications. Within 7 days the company must specify, among other things, who is the data controller of the data of the persons subjected to body temperature measurement, the reasons for the detection, the reliability of the instruments used,the expected consequences for those who are found to have a temperature higher than the physiological one, what information will be provided to the interested parties and how it will be provided.
