Putin on the politicization of the fight against the pandemic

Vladimir Putin said that it is important, dropping politicization, to fight the coronavirus pandemic and its consequences.

The head of state spoke about this during the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum.

In particular, he called for an end to politicization on the origin of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“When politicization begins, then confidence in the conclusions that are made on the basis of a politicized approach immediately decreases, because immediately there is a feeling that we are far from the truth,” Putin said.

He stressed that in the current situation, it is necessary to jointly fight the consequences of the pandemic.

According to the president, those who politicize this issue make colossal mistakes.

He also drew attention to the fact that highly developed countries that produce vaccines against coronavirus often do not make a significant contribution to the fight of the whole world against COVID-19.

“Most of the vaccines are produced there, and they go to protect their own population.

And very little is being done to protect humanity in a broad sense, ”Putin said.

He added that this situation will remain relevant, since the low level of vaccine protection in some countries means that the infection could again spread from there to other parts of the world.

New strains

The head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova said that there is no spread of new strains of coronavirus in Russia, in particular, the lambda variant.

“The spread of new strains is not yet received.

Even where they form, we observe this very closely.

And so loudly noisy "lambda" and other strains, while there is no spread of these strains in the Russian Federation, "Popova said in an interview with Naila Asker-zade on the Russia-1 TV channel.

The head of Rospotrebnadzor explained that the delta strain remains prevalent in the world.

Speaking about the situation with the incidence in Russia in general, Popova agreed with the statement that the situation is stabilizing.

“Yes, we have unconditional signs of stabilization.

Probably, the fifth week we are seeing a decline.

The decline is not very pronounced, from week to week it is no more than 5-7%, and this is a rather slow and gradual decline, ”said the chief sanitary doctor.
